Having lived much of my life as a planner, it is ironic that I could not have planned this path for myself. And looking back, I can see how my personality and little things along the way brought me to where I am today.
When I was in sixth grade, I wanted to be an interior designer. Without even fully realizing it, creating a welcoming and curated environment has always been a passion of mine. Growing up, I was always styling the precious possessions on my headboard and the shelves in my room, making everything just so. I laugh to recall coordinating bedspreads with my roommate my freshman year of college, whom I had never met!
I met my husband, Derek, while we were in college at UNC Chapel Hill. We married after graduation, and in a sweet foreshadowing of my story, our reception venue offered me a job after our wedding. We were moving out of the area so sadly, I could not take the position.
For many years after college, I poured myself into work in operations, administration, and coordination. Reflecting on those years of work that fit my administrative skills and personality, I also had opportunities to impact the environment of those places.
Once I had children, I came alive in the process of designing, planning, and executing their birthday parties.
For one party in particular, I worked with the Greenhouse Picker Sisters. After the party, I started working for them! I have loved spending the past six years working in the wedding industry. My passion is to bring the same level of beauty, detail, and thoughtfulness to your celebration. I cannot wait to put everything I have into creating an unforgettable experience for someone in your life!

The story
Behind the Name
Lake & Lavender
Both words have personal significance for me and the vision for my work. The smell of lavender brings a sense of calm, and lavender played a role in a long health journey in my life. Lake life has been an important part of my family experience and memories, from my own childhood to my children’s experiences today. I also survived a plane crash into a lake (an incredible story to be told in person!), which brought to life a desire to celebrate beauty and bless others.
Lake and Lavender represents peace, calm and beauty – three of the elements I hope to bring to each of my clients and their loved ones.
