Nora’s Third Birthday Party as Featured on Inspired By This

Every party I have done becomes so special to me for some reason. My daughter’s first birthday party led me to working in the events industry for the past three years. And her third birthday party shared here is what led me to start Lake and Lavender. I am forever grateful for Radian Photography! They captured this day so so beautifully and it was featured on Inspired By This. You can see the feature here. Radian also shared about it on their blog, too! What makes all of this even more special and fun to me is that she talks about having a tea party all.the.time. This is the greatest sign that her third birthday party was “so her.”

I have to start off this post sharing about the cake because Nora LOVES cake. Her excitement about cake is the cutest thing! My sister, friend, and I made petite cakes for each of the girls and their moms. And I had so much fun adding flowers to each one!

Even though I am not a DIYer in my everyday life, when it comes to parties, I get a lot of joy creating some special DIY elements. I thought it would be fun for the girls to wear fascinators. Since many of the guests were under 3, instead of hats, I made headbands using flowers and pearls to bring the idea to life. Surprisingly, the girls wore them the whole time. And I hope they will wear them for at-home play and dress up!

Nora loves balloons! We always inflate them and scatter them around the living room for free play. This time, I was also inspired to use them to create a statement above the cake table, with eucalyptus completing the look.

I love flowers and enjoyed creating the arrangements to adorn the dining room table and living room as well as the hoop, which was the first thing guests saw when they arrived. I bought the flowers from Wylde Flowers and Trader Joe’s.

My lifelong best friend, Liz, flew in from New York City to be here for the party. It meant so much to have her here! {This is another thing I love about parties – how it brings people together! My cousin flew in for Nora’s first birthday party, and like Liz’s visit, I will never forget it}. She picked up some macarons from Laudree for me. Macarons are great for any occasion, but they are especially perfect for a tea party. What a treat they were!

I was so excited to find vintage-inspired paper plates and paper tea cups on Amazon for the girls! They provided the perfect amount of fancy and practicality.

The party would not have been as memorable as it was without Greenhouse Picker Sisters. They provided the buffet for the cake display, the mismatched chairs, extra upholstered seating for the living room, the welcome sign, and antique tea cups for the moms.

Oaks and Gray Paper did the calligraphy for the welcome sign and envelopes. I love her work and what she did for us!

Buono Forchetta Catering made a delicious spread that appealed to the kids and moms!

My hope for Nora is the same hope for any guest of honor at a party, that she felt loved and celebrated. And that she smiles to recall friends and family having fun and sharing in such a memorable experience with her.
